Shell Exploration and Production Co. said that output from its Mars platform in the Gulf of Mexico has lifted to 20 percent more than where it stood before it shut down ahead of Hurricane Katrina last year.
The Mars platform is the largest-producing oil platform and output now stands at 190,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Shell also managed to pick up 5 parcels of land in Northern Alberta adding to the adjacent 10 parcels it had bought in February. The acquisition of Canada's oil sands cost Shell C$101 million.
